GAL is an established professional appraisal organization with a polite, courteous staff. We invite you to stop in to talk to one of our Graduate Gemologists in regards to having your valuables appraisals. We do evaluations for insurance, estate and tax purposes.

When you visit our laboratory, expect to be treated with the respect you deserve. You are present at all times and the appraisal is performed in front of you, while you watch. An experienced gemologist using state of the art scientific equipment thoroughly evaluates the jewelry as they explain the complete appraisal process in detail.

What to expect when you come into our lab for an appraisal

When you bring your item of jewelry to our lab an experienced gemologist will evaluate the item using various state of the art equipment. The entire process takes approximately twenty minutes and is done in front of you, while you watch. The appraiser will:

• Determine whether natural or synthetic and if treated when possible
• Measure the loose or mounted stones
• Use a scale or calculate the weight of the stones presented
• Provide gemstones and diamonds with a cut, color and clarity grade
• Plot inclusions of center diamond to provide you with a "fingerprint"
• Determine the value
• Provide an explanation of the process and answer any additional questions you may have
• Take a Digital Photograph of your item
